Sacramento combines urban excitement with old-world charm. The city is the confluence of so many geographical and historical prizes that make it an ever-evolving and peaceful place to live. It carries the unique combination of stately trees throughout neighborhoods that also carry a  metropolitan, urban vibe. The city’s proximity to a plethora of farms has brought recognition as the farm-to-fork capital of the country.

Sacramento is also California’s state capital, making it a hub for exciting events and community gatherings. Residents have tranquility and the amenities of a city in the Golden State’s embodiment.

Dining, Shopping, and Entertainment

For an elegant dinner that is both culturally refined and intimately welcoming, The Kitchen is a treat. This farm-to-fork restaurant is owned and operated by a family of passionate chefs. Their commitment to the highest quality of cuisine and ingredients is reflected in their long list of awards, including a Michelin star. Their seven-course tasting menu is perfectly balanced to offer a sample of the finest flavors of the area. For libation lovers, each course is paired with a seasonal wine or cocktail. From start to finish, The Kitchen is a one-of-a-kind experience.

Another wonderful experience in Sacramento is Rick’s Dessert Diner. This 1950’s soda shop-themed dessert bar offers a dazzling array of over 100 handcrafted pastries all in place. Get a sugar rush on gourmet treats in a celebratory vintage atmosphere.

For fun, shopping and food, there is no better place to get a feel for Sacramento’s urban charm than at Old Sacramento Waterfront. The historical riverfront district that runs along the Sacramento River has quaint architecture, dining and riverfront events. Not only is the scenery beautiful, but there is always an opportunity to try something new.

Things to Do

Since Sacramento is the capital of California, it is inherently an attraction where events and gatherings are constantly being held. One of the most notable is the California State Fair. This is a large-scale community fair that attracts headlining musical guests and hosts an endless list of contests, concerts, booths, and food all within the Cal Expo grounds.

Sacramento has a sparkling reputation as a farm-to-fork cuisine destination and the Farm-to-Fork Festival is an amazing opportunity to survey the landscape. This food-oriented street festival runs for three days so guests have every chance to sample food offerings and enjoy performances. The jewel on the festival’s calendar is the Tower Bridge Dinner. This unique event is a hot ticket as it provides an immaculate meal made by local artisans and a once-in-a-lifetime view. The Tower Bridge is shut down and dressed as a luxurious restaurant set up all along its length where the meal is served.

Sacramento is also a lauded brewing destination and various groups host artisan pub crawls where residents can meet up and mingle.

Schools

Sacramento is served by the Sacramento City Unified School District as well as a multitude of private school options.
